The Personal Brand Spring Cleaning Quiz


In January, many of us set goals for 2002 and we are now about a quarter of the way through the year.  Are you making progress on your goals?  Are you building and nurturing your personal brand?  This quick personal brand quiz will help you understand the current strength of your brand.  

Instructions for completing the quiz:
Read the following questions, keeping track of how many times you respond with the word 'YES.'

  1. Can you state your five most relevant and compelling brand attributes (adjectives that describe your promise of value)?
  2. Can you clearly describe your target audience (demographics, psychographics)?
  3. Have your documented a clear purpose and vision?
  4. Have you documented your short- and long-term goals?
  5. Can you clearly describe what differentiates you from your competitors (others with similar skills and experience)?
  6. Do you have a brand communications plan for the year?
  7. Have you published or e-published an article in the past three months?
  8. Have you spoken to a group in the past three month?
  9. Are you comfortable with your presentation skills?
  10. Do you mark every project in which you participate with your personal brand?
  11. Have you called a member of your professional network this week?
  12. Do you send regular communications to your network (e-mail)?
  13. Have you done something to support a member of your network this week?
  14. Is your personal style (image, appearance, wardrobe) consistent with your personal brand and appropriate for your target audience?
  15. Does your office/work environment communicate your Brand?
  16. Are your brand goals SMART (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic and have a Time-frame)?
  17. Do you have metrics in place to measure your brand progress?
  18. Do you have focus group of peers/managers to provide brand feedback?
  19. Do you have a coach or mentor?
  20. Do you have a brand evolution plan in place?


Scoring:
For the questions above, if you answered yes to:

16-20     Congratulations! – You have established a strong, winning personal brand.  Keep it up!

10-15     You have the foundation for building a strong Brand.  Stick With it.  Here's an article that will keep you on track.  And consider registering for the Stand Out Personal Branding Workshop.
